  1. 2025

    Over 113 new pitches, the McDougall Slabs retrofit, the launch of the TABVAR app, and the first Golden Crowbar.

  2. 2024

    New routes from 5.3 to 5.14, retrofits on several classics, and a new partnership for retrofit hardware.

  3. 2023

    Plenty of new routes and retrofits, oversubscribed retrofit courses, and a Route Builders Workshop. The financials cover a year and a half of claims after the deadline moved to August 1.

    • 30 refurbished pitches
    • Two retrofit weekend courses led by Ben Firth, both oversubscribed
    • A Route Builders Workshop in Canmore, with observers from Alberta Parks and Parks Canada
    • Retrofits at Acéphale, Cowbell, Steve Canyon, Door Jamb and Kid Goat

    New pitches include 10 open projects. Also funded: 1 new mixed climb, and 2 ice and 3 mixed climbs refurbished.

  4. 2022

    The year TABVAR lost its founder, Jon Jones, and moved the claims deadline to August 1.

    • 72 new pitches
    • 52 refurbished pitches
    • Claims deadline moved from December 1 to August 1
    • Steve Fedyna took over as president from Ian Greant
    • Access to the top of Cowbell Crag funded
  5. 2021

    The number of donors doubled from 2020, and TABVAR held its first donor prize draw.

    • 34 refurbished pitches
    • First donor prize draw: $2,855 in prizes from 21 contributors, given to 68 winners
    • Liability insurance for directors and volunteers
    • Status renewed as a not-for-profit society in Alberta

    Also funded: 2 rap lines, 1 via ferrata access and 5 ice anchors.

  6. 2020

    Jon Jones retired as president, and a fall appeal brought in more individual donations in 48 hours than in the previous five years.

    • 92% of the fall appeal donations came from first-time supporters
    • Seven new multi-pitch climbs supported
  7. 2019

    New multi-pitch routes, and three popular EEOR routes re-equipped with stainless glue-ins.

    • $11,431 donated
    • 104 new pitches
    • 38 refurbished pitches
    • Heartline, Chas Yonge's 17-pitch route on Heart Mountain
    • Raptor, True Grit and Parallel Dreams on EEOR re-equipped with stainless glue-in bolts
    • MEC donated $5,000 plus over $4,000 in hardware discounts

    Also funded: 10 ice climbs and 4 rap lines.

  8. 2018

      TABVAR's 25th year. Several long multi-pitch routes were funded.

      • Don't Rock the Boatswain (5.14), a 7-pitch route on Grotto Mountain

      Hundreds of old bolts replaced with stainless glue-ins in Cougar Canyon, and new multi-pitch routes.
